The book: “The Ride So Far”

The Ride so Far: Tales from a Motorcycling Life, by Lance Oliver

Update: Sold out!

My book is now out of print, as the owners of Whitehorse Press have retired and shut down the publishing business. After the recent mention of the book on the RevZilla Highside/Lowside podcast, I have sold all remaining copies. Apologies to anyone who listened to the podcast and came to buy the book, but the last copies went quickly. Thanks for your interest. Used copies occasionally show up for sale on Amazon and elsewhere.

About the book

Nobody has to ride a motorcycle, so why do we do it? We all have our reasons, but few describe them better than these well spun tales from a varied motorcycling life. Whether recounting a laid-back ramble along an Appalachian backroad or trying to reach 170 mph on a Kawasaki Ninja at Losail International Circuit in Qatar, these tales from the road and ruminations from the garage uncover the essence of what makes motorcycling so much more than just a way to get from here to there.

Reviews and reader comments

Let’s cut to the chase: this is one of the best motorcycle books that I have ever read.

If you enjoyed Peter Egan’s countless columns in Cycle World over the years, enjoy reading Clement Salvadori’s columns in Rider, you’ll no doubt enjoy and benefit from this new book, The Ride So Far, by Lance Oliver… While Oliver is a lesser known journalist, he is an excellent writer… We HIGHLY recommend this book.

Very humorous, often inspiring, frequently instructive, always entertaining… it was all of the above and more. He has a comfortable, easy writing style, and I often found myself leaning back in my chair and letting myself simply imagine the people and places of which he wrote. In fact, several times he was able to put into words what I feel when I ride, or even when traveling by other means… I recommend it to riders everywhere.

The Ride So Far will have you nodding in agreement, chuckling at the absurdity, and probably laughing out loud.
